Jean Cocteau - Henri Cremieux - Marai Casares - Francois Perier - Edouard Dermit. Early French manufactured Columbia Records 10" mono LP, housed in box, FC 1076.Earliest dark blue labels with silver print.
Vinyl in generally very clean condition. Very few spider trace marks around the centre spindle areas. Vinyl surfaces have a very high gloss still, and are mostly free of any marks. Side one is very clean with just a couple of the lightest of superficial and non-sounding paper scuff hairline marks. Side two has a few very short scuff marks right at the begining of the side, one slightly longer hairline and another couple of shorter hairline marks. None of these are really deeply embedded marks, but in places they are just deep enough to sound. This is never severe, and playback of side two is on the whole still very acceptable. For the most part all that is heard is the very quietest of low level ticks here and there, although there is one instance of a few continous soft clicks towards the centre. Volume of all of these is never loud and obtrusive, and in most places is only just about audible. Overall, listening pleasure is only really ever marred by the small patch of continuous ticks, although even here it is not overbearing. Aside from the few marks mentioned, side two has unmarked surfaces with a high gloss still.
Labels are clean, undulled and undefaced both sides.
Box sleeve in mostly clean condition. The all important front part with the evocative Cocteau cover art still looks very good, with just touches of darkening rubbing and a couple of the very tiniest of tan stains to bottom right. An unobtrusive tan tide mark stain to far right near top. The rear has no prominent stains or marks aside from some dark storage rubbing lines in places along the edge borders. Box has not bowed, or been pushed in. Tips and extremities have survived pretty well. No splitting or fraying and just a touch of whitening to right hand tips. Tips at spine area have some very minor and tidy splitting but are complete and hold together very well still. The spine area is still bright and clean with bright gilt, and would look very presentable on a shelf. There is no other scraping or whitening to the box edge areas.
All in all a very acceptable issue of this iconic and uncommon set.
