'Truth' the title inspired by lowan band 'Truth and Janey' was the first full album by Jeff Beck and his backing band and was released in 1968- it recieved fantastic apprailsal at the time of release and feautred songwritting collaborations between Beck and Rod Stewart on 3 songs on the album aswell as starring two guest musicaians both from Led Zeppelin- these being Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones

This rarer mono example of this album was pressed at a time when the mono format was being fazed out, as more and more people invested in stereo systems thus meaning that nearly all post 1968 albums produced in mono and stereo- the mono version would end up being the far more scarce of the two, this album indeed now is actually extremely hard to find in any sort of condition, and any time it is found it is usually in poor condition- this was an album that for the people who bought it would have played it to death- it was at the time of release considered as being one of the first true full on hard rock blues album, (barring perhaps the likes of Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream) it would have been very loved but not treated with care and as a result finding a copy of this album in particular in any sort of respectable condition is exceptionally difficult, this copy for a change HAS been looked after for a change with a highly respectable sleeve, disc and audio which still sounds as punchy and fresh as it did 41 years ago.

A sleeve that is certainly known for turning up in bad worn condition- not because it was badly designed or for any other particular reason other than this album is an album that would have always been listened to by its owners- made of thick card with a laminated front- perhaps one of the weaknesses with this and all Garrod and Lofthouse sleeves is the fact of an unprotected back with leaves it vunerable to staining and soiling,this copy despite a very light collection of dust on the sticky areas where the flipbacks laminate finishes, has not browned and has retained its whiteness almost to the full- some slight flipback creasing in the laminate to the bottom flipback however this is not overly noticable and the overall condition is that of a very nice solid sleeve which has retained its shape well looking nice and square- the front panel is looking nice and flat with just some extremely light wrinkles in the laminate close to the spine- the opening edges are crisp with the corners to the spine only showing extremely light feathering. Very good plus-excellent minus would certainly be the appropriate grading to this sleeve, an overall WELL above average example with only really what is very minor faults which dont at all detract away from what is a superb sleeve.

Both the blue Columbia labels display the correct 'sold in uk...' and 'the Gramophone...' statements to confirm this being a true first pressing-  this along with the very early mother/stamper codes in the deadwax at 3'oclock and 9 o'clock to the matrix number make this a very early first pressingthe labels are looking very clean and mark free, no wear present to the ring which is so often a factor to a record showing it has been overplayed, there are just a few light spindle trails but by no means has this copy recieved extensive play- something which the audio can certainly suggest also Certainly excellent plus  only taken down due to the light spindle trails.

A fantastic visual and playing copy of this classic album, certainly in mono this album is a far more punchy mix and adds far more to the hard rock feel of the album- the visual aspect of this vinyl; side one is extremely clean and bears a deep dark gloss only present on unworn vinyl- under extreme bright light and bright daylight do a smattering of light hairlines become visable on side two- these completely harmless and have no imact whatsoever on audio feedback the grading to me seems fair at excellent minus- excellent; certainly a beautifullly clean disc which plays fantasticly -brilliant, clear, powerful and rich mono sound only present seemingly on the original discs; just some very low level static in imbetween areas and not in the music however this is nearly impossible to avoid for vinyl of this age and this takes NOTHING away from the clarity and enjoyment of this fantastic album- certainly a disc that I believe would now be exceptionally hard to upgrade.

The original Emi advertising inner is also in nice condition- some slight age related yellowing however overall solid excellent condition.
