WOW!!! This is a real GEM!!
Do you have trouble sleeping? Let Jeff Bridges help you out!
This is an extremely RARE OOP Limited Edition copy of Jeff Bridges- Sleeping Tapes on splendid 180g gold marbled vinyl with a beautiful shiny gold leaf pressed die-cut sleeve. The packaging is truly wonderful. When the inner sleeve is inserted, the eyes appear open but when removed, the eyes appear closed. This was ONLY available in tiny quantities through Jeff Bridges' Squarespace fundraiser campaign for No Kid Hungry to help feed starving children and were instantly sold out. The original price for this limited edition gold vinyl copy was $200 so the value will only increase. There is a regular version on black vinyl that is also rare and OOP but this limited edition takes the cake for rarity. One sold recently on eBay for $333! I have placed a reasonable asking price of $220 but I will consider offers. Make your best one and I just might accept!
Description from Jeff Bridges' website:
180-gram vinyl plate (golden wax). Debossed gold leaf pressed album cover featuring illustrations by Lou Beach. Album cover is die cut - so when you pull the album lining out, the illustration's eyes go to sleep.
Sleeve: EX This beautiful die-cut gold gatefold sleeve is in Excellent condition! I say EX instead of NM because of a few small indents here and there. With a gold leaf pressed cover like this it is difficult to keep it fully pristine but this is truly in beautiful shape. The original golden sheen is still very shiny and gorgeous! The title (Sleeping Tapes) and Jeff Bridges signature are wonderfully embossed on the front. There are a few scrapes here and there on the front and back but are very light and not noticeable upon first glance. The corners are still relatively sharp with only a couple of small "dings". The inside gatefold is immaculate. The opening edge is sharp and the sleeve and disc appear as though they were bought new yesterday. Because of the shiny surface of the sleeve I had trouble getting good pictures. ***It almost looks like something is off along the spine but I this is only a photo effect and does not appear on the actual sleeve.
Vinyl: NM to EX- Side One looks perfect. NM. No scratches or scuffs and looks nearly pristine. Side Two has a couple of VERY LIGHT superficial sleeve removal scuffs only visible when held at the right angle and in bright light. These are non-sounding and do not affect play. I would grade Side Two as EX-
Inner Sleeve: EX The original shiny gold cardboard inner sleeve would be NM if not for one small crease (see pics) so I will grade it as EX. The corners are sharp and there are no marks or writing.
Labels: EX++ Nearly perfect apart from some tiny wrinkles and excess wax around the spindle hole which undoubtedly are from the manufacturing process. I could grade them as NM but I always grade conservatively to be fair and honest.
This album was critically received very well with an 8.1 score from Pitchfork. It is an "ambient"/electronic/spoken word/found sound album which Bridges describes as a "sleep aid". It consists of "The Dude" himself speaking and is full of soothing sounds and a very relaxing feel. It is very eccentric but in a very good way. :)
Shipping is $4 Media Mail within the US. Sorry, no international sales on this one. I ship records in a brand new, sturdy cardboard LP mailer with the disc in a high quality MoFi replacement inner sleeve to protect the original and place the disc behind the jacket and put the entire thing into a high quality resealable Japanese Mylar outer sleeve. I then place cardboard stiffeners on both sides and bubble wrap when able. It will arrive in the same condition as it leaves my house!! I strive for 100% customer satisfaction and positive feedback so in the unlikely event of a problem please just message me first and I'll do everything I can to correct it. Thank you for looking and good luck!
Returns are accepted within 14 days with a GOOD reason. I have done my best to detail everything including any flaws and included pictures so please read carefully and inspect the pictures before purchasing. Thank you! :)
Here is the grading scale I use:
Mint (M) … Seldom used grade, especially for used vinyl, for records that are absolutely perfect but not necessarily sealed.
Near Mint (NM) ... This is the highest grade generally given. This will be a nearly perfect record that will show no obvious signs of wear or other defects. LP covers will be nearly perfect with no seam splits, cut-out holes, creases, stickers, writing, general wear or other defects. EP and 45 rpm sleeves will also be free of all but the most minor defect.
Excellent (EX) ... Record will show only very minor defects and generally not more than one. This is still a very nice record that will play perfectly. Only minor flaws allowed on records or sleeves.
Very Good + (VG+) … Record will show some signs of use or handling but it has been well taken care of. Expect to see small defects like light scuffing, light scratches, minor label wear, small markings on label. Record will still play well without noise. Covers will have some wear on surface or edges, bruised corners, small seam split, small markings, small stickers but generally not a combination of defects.
Very Good (VG) … Record will have a little heavier wear with maybe a little noise between tracks and soft passages but not enough to overwhelm the music. May have heavier small scratches but record will play through. Labels may have more obtrusive markings, tape or stickers. Covers may be more heavily worn, markings, stickers, cut-out defects or a couple of more minor defects.
Good (G) … Moving to the lower end quality wise and the defects will be more prominent or there may be multiple defects. Should still be playable and covers will be a little rough.
Poor (P) … Generally this record is in the trash but it may be a hard to find piece that still has some value due to rarity. Don’t expect much.
