This well loved 12 LP set is ok for use for casual listening , but if you're looking for perfection, then this is not the set for you. This set would be best for somebody who's always wanted this historic complete set but who doesn't mind scuff and hearing some background noise and pops and also doesn't mind that the covers are fairly well worn

Covers range from G- (good minus) to VG- (Very good minus) with lots of ring wear and shelf wear, age toning, seam splits, many if not most of the covers have parts of the seams that have been taped and some covers have multiple edge seams held with tape to stay together 

Vinyl on the 12 records ranges from G- (good minus) to VG- (very good minus) lots of variety of surface wear, but every copy I played (about half of the LPs) played through without skipping, this collection could use a clean with a record cleaning solution but overall condition is G (Good)

Personnel:

Jelly Roll Morton (p) solos, talking and illustrating songs with interviews with Alan Lomax.

In 1938, noted musicologist and Morton biographer Alan Lomax conducted a series of interviews with Morton at the Library of Congress. Richard Cook and Brian Morton describe these recordings as Jelly Roll Morton's "virtual history of the birth pangs of jazz as it happened in the New Orleans of the turn of the century. His memory was unimpaired, although he chose to tell things as he preferred to remember them, perhaps; and his hands were still in complete command of the keyboard." Ron Wynn and Bruce Boyd Raeburn note that "though the albums came out posthumously, the interviews generated tremendous new interest in Morton's life and music."

Riverside Records issued these recordings as LP records in 1955. This set has the 1957 label variety.
