Description

Jesse Rogers apparently was known as "Texas's own Blues Yodeler." I wouldn't expect there was much competition, but then that was way before my time. Anyway, here are eight classic western tunes featuring said blues yodeler on a set titled "Saddle Serenade" with a longhorn steer on the cover who looks like he may have been some graphic kin of Ferdinand, except the longhorn is out among the cacti, far from the roses. This set is Album No. MS-481 Series E from Sonora ("Clear as a Bell"). The songs include: Back in the Saddle Again, Roll Along Prairie Moon, Patent Leather Boots, Old conestoga Wagon, The Cattle Call, The Yellow Rose of Texas, Ridin' Down the Canyon and When the Bloom is on the Sage. The liner notes are interesting. Rogers apparently grew up along the Mississippi, then moved as a tweener to a "Texas southwest border ranch and took to the roping, riding life of a cowboy." And learned the ins and outs of blue yodeling, presumably. I guess that's what you do on the ranch when you lose your blues harmonica... This set is mid-century vintage and used. There's wear to cover, especially on edges and creases consistent with use and age. There's foxing and fading to record sheaths. Records have some wear and surface scratches and fingerprints consistent with use and age. There are some filing stamps on the sleeves and albums. See photos, or contact sellers for more.
