High Water Records catalog # LP1012, stereo, copyright 1990.
A very clean copy of Handy Award winning singer, songwriter, guitarist Jessie Mae Hemphill's "Feelin' Good" album. Born in Mississippi, Hemphill's music carries the flavor of Delta style blues, but without being a traditionalist.
From the liner notes: "While her songs avoid the standard twelve bar structures and her guitar playing employs the repeated riffs and open tunings typical of the folk blues of her native Mississippi, her music has a strange contemporary quality to it. It draws so directly and strongly from ancient roots and speaks so simply yet eloquently of universal human feelings and conditions that it sounds both fresh and traditional at the same time".
This LP comes from a radio station library, and was played very little if at all. Sleeve has a sticker rear upper right and lower rear right, and a bit of colored tape on the spine for index purposes. (See photos)
