Description

Jethro Tull's 'Benefit' was never released on the early 'Pink Island' labels neither with a gatefold cover in the UK (ILPS 9123)....but it was in Germany(6339 009)  Very hard to find a copy that hasn't been played to death. When I came across this copy I was amazed at the condition it was in.  Sure, the poster is missing....but I have yet to get any audio from a poster. The playback from this heavy vinyl is superb...bettering in my opinion, the first UK pressing.  'Benefit' is an over-looked and under appreciated album in Jethro Tull's catalog.....produced by Ian Anderson and Terry Ellis, it is a leaner,  more  rock-oriented collection  of songs and yielded the hit 'Teacher'. Though the song does not appear on the UK or German pressings, it was included on the U.S. release and was indeed recorded during the same time as the rest of the album.  What amazes me is that the song 'Nothing To Say' (which does appear on all pressings) was not released as a single and which I consider to be, not only the best song on the album, but one of the best songs Tull ever recorded. It has never sounded as clear, and "open" as it does on this pressing.

 

Condition of Gatefold Jacket: Near Mint....exceptionally well cared for showing the slightest evidence of handling...minor creases and corner wear only...perfect spine...inner gatefold is also in beautiful condition.

Condition of Record: Near Mint minus....very very faint evidence of background noise occassionally and only in the quietest parts...plays beautifully and lives up to the bold, loud sound of the early 'Pink Island' releases. Labels are in superb, like-new condition.
