This is an absolute rarity in the progscene which does not come up very often at all. This is of course the very first press of Jethro Tulls classic album. Visually the vinyl would rate VG- only. The vinyl has quite a few hairlines and marks. On replay the sound of the very heavy vinyl is magnificent though!!! On side one there are a few pops to be heard here and there but nothing too distracting really. Side two is better even. There are NO jumps and the album plays great throughout, a credit to these heavy first presses. Some background noise during quieter passages.  I play my records on the very revealing Linn Sondek with B&W floorstanders and Rotel amplifier and it really comes up trumps!!!  Some achievement for a 40 year old record.The winner of this auction will likely be very pleased.

The sleeve has NO creases. The inside gatefold is NM. Most of these sleeves will have a fair amount of creasing and 90% of the ones I have come across were in some state. The inside gatefold looks as if it was just bought over the counter of a '60's record shop!! The spine and edges have a fair amount of rubbing. Similarly the spine has a lot of rubbing mostly near the corners and wearing through in the centre. The title and ILPS number are legible. The groupname has rubbed off. A small split near the centre spine. The start of some ringwear to the back. A sticker removal mark near the top right has been repaired but this can be seen when you observe it closely. This sleeve is prone to wear like e.g. King Crimson's "Court". It would have been great if these classic sleeves would have been laminated. THERE ARE NO CREASES AT ALL!!!!!

All in all a very rare first press Tull second album which is getting increasingly hard to obtain in any shape or condition!!!
