This is my new account that I have set up primarily for vinyl records.  I will be listing my fathers rather rare records other the next week so come and grab some rare wax!!

You can bid with absolute confidence as I describe with total honesty with as many pictures as possible.

I know what it is like to get an over graded record turning up 2 weeks late, but that is not the service you will receive here.  I am a true lover of vinyl and this passion will be transferred to the security of your records!!

Here we have one of the rarest Tull records ever pressed

Thick as a Brick is the fifth studio album by Jethro Tull. Released in 1972, the album includes only one song, the title track, which spans the entire album. Thick as a Brick was deliberately crafted in the style of a concept album. The original packaging, designed like a newspaper, claims the album to be a musical adaptation of an epic poem by a (fictional) 8-year-old boy, though the lyrics were actually written by the band's frontman, Ian Anderson.

Thick as a Brick was Jethro Tull's first deep progressive rock offering, coming four years after the release of their first album. The epic album is notable for its many musical themes, time signature changes and tempo shifts—all of which were features of the progressive rock scene which was emerging at the time. In addition, the instrumentation includes harpsichord, xylophone, timpani, violin, lute, trumpet, saxophone, and a string section—all uncommon in blues-based rock.

This record is the very very first pressing with the Island ‘I’ on the top rim with the Basing St address running around the perimeter.  All later presses exclude this information.

As with all 1st pressing Porky & Pecko is also etched into the dead wax!

Along with the lowest matrices possible, this very record has the lowest 1/1 stampers!  Surely making it one of the earliest pressing in the world!

All this would be rare by default, but the fact that this record has hardly been played and is a solid Nr MINT is almost unheard of!

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Sleeve Condition.

The original newspaper sleeve is in really great condition with no stains, writing or rips at all.  The colours are still nice and vibrant with only mild shelf wear to the corner edges.  The spine is perfectly readable and straight which is a real rarity with this fragile design!  The rear looks really great with all the writing perfectly readable. There is as some mild discolouring to the occasion edge but only very faint.  The sleeve sits nice and flat as it should and all the pages of the newspaper are still present.  Overall a really stunning example!

Label Condition.

The 1st press green Chrysalis labels with the Island ‘I’ are in stunning condition.  There are no rips, rubbing, writing or stains to mention.  There is no centre hole damage at all.  .  Under a strong light, only one invisible spindle line can be seen!  It’s clear to see that this record has maybe been played once or twice at the most!

Inner Condition.

The original die cut plain white inner sleeve is in lovely condition with no stains, rips or splits at all.  Only some mild folding to mention! Splendid!

Vinyl Visual Condition.

So this is where it gets even more special!  The record looks stunningly perfect! It has that “just pressed” look with no dulling, scratches or warping of any sort!  It still retains its factory shine and lustre.  Even under a strong halogen, just some wispy almost invisible removals can be seen!  It’s that good! I would argue that must be one of the finest 1st presses around today!

Vinyl Audio Condition.

The record sounds superb!  There are no jumps, skips or nasty distortion at all! I didn’t hear a single click or pop, even at full volume!  It’s a crystal, sharp and bouncy sound throughout!  There was just a little static on the run ins as is to be expected.  The dynamics of the band are utterly superb and easily separable.  This is how Thick as a Brick should be heard!  In its original 1st press format!  I haven’t heard a better copy in all my time! Final upgrade!

So there we have it.  One of the most pristine 1st press examples of the rare Thick as a Brick that you will ever come across!

I will package the records with extreme care, with hard stiffeners and the vinyl separate to the sleeve and inner, all housed in a Defenda lock tab record box envelope.

 I try to be as honest as I can in my descriptions, taking as many pictures as possible, but if you don’t feel happy with your purchase, I offer no quibble full refunds as soon as the record is sent back.  I will not give partial refunds however, only full.  I think this is fair, Thanks!

Over the next month I will be listing my Fathers record collection.  He was an avid collector who amassed a pretty huge collection that I will be offering all at 99p starts! I shall be listing No Emi Harvests, 1st press Beatles, Pink Islands and loads of other rarities!

  They are mostly in near perfect condition with my dad putting most on tape in the 80’s, then once again onto CD in the 90’s, and since they have been sat unplayed and always in plastic covers! , so stay tuned if you’re interested in some good old rare wax!
