Description

An original 1st press of 'This Was' on the UK Island Bullseye label from 1968. Matrix A/B [absolute 1st press]. Labels are consistent with day of release 1st press - no mention of 'England'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original flipback, uncredited, mono wide-spine cover [very very 1st issue].
Vinyl (Ex+) Absolutely superb condition and has seen the light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Due to a lot of acoustic numbers and the use of percussion this Lp is really difficult to find playing super-clean. The percussion is resolved perfectly. There's barely any background interference at all just silence behind the audio. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent. We literally couldn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. It really is a superb rendition of this LP in its original 'day of release' Mono format...hmmmm..nice!
Cover (Ex-) This copy has clearly been looked after very carefully down those 50 years... That iconic front cover looks great with only some light creasing over on the right hand side. The interior is in great shape with just lightest creasing down in the bottom left corrner. The rear is pretty much immaculate. Edge wear is very light. Just take a look at the spine - wowzwers! Overall the cover retains great rigidity and lies totally flat. A truly superb example and one you'd struggle to better.
