JETHRO TULL "THIS WAS" US REPRISE WHITE LABEL PROMO 1968 "STEAMBOAT LABEL" REPRISE 6336
A great opportunity for Tull collectors: a genuine first edition white label promotional copy of the first album in fantastic condition! This has been in my collection for years but now it is time for another collector to have it. I have rarely seen a better copy, either promo or a regular edition of this 39 year old album. Despite being a promo copy, I doubt it was ever played: there are no spindle marks and the sound is very close to M- but I will be conservative and give it a VG+ (aka EX). Comes in the original gatefold cover and company inner sleeve. The cover gets a VG+: this is the only copy I have seen with NO ring wear. It does have two dings on the lower left corner and upper right but otherwise pristine: no tears, writing or split seams! The inner gatefold is close to mint except for a couple of brown age spots on the top. The inner sleeve is in fine shape as well except for a 3" split seam on one edge.
This is the best promo copy of any Reprise album I've seen in 30 years.

I play rate all vinyl and am a conservative grader (some say down right picky). A purely visual inspection might be convenient for the seller but not necessarily for the buyer! I've been collecting vinyl for 30 years and know from experience that visually a record might look mint but may play with alot of surface noise; some vinyl looks pretty bad but may sound terrific. So, playing all of the record- not just bits- is the way to go.
