Description

A very scarce California surf LP by Jim Waller and the Deltas. Surfin’ Wild (on the Arvee label AS 432). It was their first and only release and is the original stereo pressing from 1963 – not a reissue of any kind. It has 12 June 1963 stamped on the reverse (see photo). The cover, and especially the record are both in very good condition, considering that it is 53 years old. This is the much harder to find stereo version, and it doesn’t turn up often! This record even featured on the World’s Rarest records auction site.

The R&B-inflected surf combo the Deltas formed at Fresno State College in 1961. Eventually billed as Jim Waller & the Deltas, the band featured a lineup of Waller on piano and organ, Terry Christofsen on guitar, Ray Carlson on saxophone, Terry Christenson on drums, and Eddie Atkinson on bass. The band disbanded in 1967.
