rare 1969 GREAT NORTH AMERICA 45 RELEASE pressing 7"
An amazingly good upbeat single, not a hit as it was swiftly withdrawn, and quite rare. They pressed very few copies, and is very hard to find now. Jimi and the band briefly promoted the single on Dick Cavett's tv show, but he had reserves about this point in his career - and the Gypsys were soon dissolved in favour of the less funk-soul, more prog psych Experience. Billy stayed on, and Mitch Mitchell - recognised as giving Jimi complete freedom for improvisation - came back to the kit! A live recorded album was handed over for the sake of shaking off Ed Chalpin's dubiously acquired contract, and this single seemed a worthwhile studio 45 to show that the band was a convicted project. Indeed this is a real landmark - but then Hendrix preferred to get back to his intended direction. Mike Jeffery mismanaged from here, greed and 'book balancing' aka banking, saw gruelling tour schedules run Jimi and the Experience into the ground! This single is oddly not often mentioned by rock historians it seems, but all the intended musical releases in Jimi's lifetime are most significant. This isn't too commonly found, so is only going to be an investment piece that gains interest in time. It's in decent playing condition!A great slice of pop beat.
