Description
'Are You Experienced' vinyl LP by The Jimi Hendrix Experience on the Track label. The album was originally released in 1967 and this is an original 1st UK pressing of the album (with black Track labels) in Mono. The catalogue number for the record is Track 612 001.
As emblematic of its time as of its sorcerer-like creator, 1967's 'Are You Experienced' unleashed Jimi Hendrix onto a world in the midst of such cultural and musical shake-ups that it really didn't seem as "far out" as it actually was. It wasn't just Hendrix's incredible skill as a pure player that was so impressive; it was, even more, the range and scope of sheer sound that he coaxed, cajoled and ripped out of his instrument. 'Purple Haze', 'Manic Depression' and 'I Don't Live Today' filled ears with indelible sonic images and tracks like 'Foxy Lady' and 'Fire' pointed the way towards a new brand of rock-charged soul music.

In accordance with the Record Collector guide for vinyl gradings, I would grade the cover for the album as being in VG condition and the record as being in EX condition (another dealer may grade this as EX+ but I like to stick to the Record Collector definitions as rigorously as possible). The cover has some fairly heavy creasing to the corners and edges (see picture below) but no splits, tears, writing or sticker marks. There is also some edge and corner wear to the cover but nothing too serious (in my opinion). The record itself has clean labels and looks unplayed but for a handful of very light surface marks which aren't audible and are difficult to see in any kind of light. It should also be noted that there is a small scratch (approximately 5mm in length) at the beginning of the track 'May This Be Love' that plays a small clicking sound for a few revolutions. This isn't particularly audible though but I'm aware that it should be mentioned. It must also be stressed that I do not grade as Mint unless I know for sure that the record has never been played. All vinyl gradings that I give are strict and very conservative.
