Description

You are bidding on a stunning example of the MEGA RARE 1967 Mono 1st Pressing "Axis: Bold As Love" LP by Jimi Hendrix. It's on the 'matt Textured' Track Record Label with laminated flipback E.J. Day Gatefold Sleeve. It also includes the complete 1st Press Orange Fold-Out Lyric Insert. I bought this album twenty years ago. It has lived in a pet-free non-smoking house ever since. It is has also been kept in a plastic protective sleeve. I have played the LP approx. six times. Definitely no more than ten. I'm a record fan who's decided to have a clear out. I have included as many helpful photos as possible to help illustrate the sale. I would say the vinyl is in VERY GOOD nr EXCELLENT condition. It has surface marks but plays beautifully throughout with rich earthy tones akin to classic analogue recordings. The labels are Near Mint, superb with NO Peeling, NO Lifting NO Grubbiness and NO unwanted writing/scribbles. There are pleasing and significant differences between the MONO and later Stereo mixes that make this MONO version extremely special to collectors : EXP is shorter without the extended feedback at the end and the vocals are louder. Castles Made of Sand features a different vocal performance. One Rainy Wish has a slightly different ending. Mono is also preferred by many because of the deep, sharp tones and overall depth and range of aural delivery. The Mono pressings are straight from the master, sounding much louder, more defined and punchier than the weaker Polydor stereo re-pressings. The mono mix on the entire playback is one of the reasons for this albums worldwide appeal. You can sense the atmosphere and buzz in the studio. I have to say a nice glass of red and this on your headphones is a very pleasing way to spend an evening! The album sleeve is also in overall VERY GOOD nr EXCELLENT condition. The iconic David King & Roger Law designed - ORIGINAL E.J. DAY FLIPBACK GATEFOLD SLEEVE is almost flawless save for a bit of feathering / minor break on the spine ( see picture). The flip-backs are PERFECT, beautiful and tight with NO folding back, NO peeling and NO creasing. The record comes COMPLETE with its POLY-LINED WINDOWED INNER SLEEVE which is in EXCELLENT shape. NO unwanted writing/scribbles and NO separating of the inner poly-lining.The original and much sought after orange Poster/Lyric Insert is in EXCELLENT condition. Approx one or two hundred of these inserts were ever made to accompany the original 1st pressings of the LP. This is a great example of one. So to recap, this is a FULLY COMPLETE with the MEGA RARE POSTER/LYRIC INSERT and ORIGINAL INNER-PLASTIC-LINED MONO BAG GATEFOLD LP ON THE MUCH SOUGHT AFTER TRACK RECORD LABEL (JIMI'S 1ST LABEL IN THE UK). THE OVERALL CONDITION OF BOTH VINYL AND RECORD SLEEVE / POSTER AND INNER BAG IS VERY GOOD / NR EXCELLENT. THE CENTRE LABELS HAVE THE CORRECT MATT BLACK 1ST PRESS FINISH AND THE MATRIX IS THE CORRECT A1 / B1. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have. I will be as honest and accurate as possible. Im not a record dealer / expert but am happy to try my best. I accept PAYPAL or personal cheque / cash for personal callers. I will post in secure parcel with recorded delivery which is trackable. Good Luck - you're bidding on rock n' roll history!
