Jimi Hendrix - Axis: Bold As Love

* (10 day listing finishing on Sunday 1st at 9:15pm) *

I am pleased to offer a genuine EARLIEST 1st press and 1st sleeve release of this classic album

Original Track 613003 released in the UK on December 1st 1967

In STEREO! The way it was recorded! And much RARER than the mono pressings ...

It's true, few people had stereo playing equipment in '67 so mono copies

were produced in much greater numbers than stereo

In superb * NEAR MINT * condition

* Copies of this EARLIEST POSSIBLE release are genuinely RARE in this CONDITION *

History:

I have owned this album since the early 70s! I played it a few times over a few years, but not obsessively (and only on quality stereo hi-fi equipment). I haven't played it at all since the late 70s. It has been carefully stored for decades in its own thick plastic outer sleeve along with the rest of my record collection.

Vinyl:

This is the EARLIEST POSSIBLE original UK 1st pressing on the Track label. Side 1, 613003 A \/ 1 1 1 1 and Side 2, 613003 B \/ 1 1 1 1 stampers. Visually both sides look NEAR MINT and play AS NEW! There are a few short and light spindle marks on the labels but it hasn't been played all that often and not for ages (for decades)! The vinyl has a nice deep black sheen, with NO significant surface marks, apart from one tiny hard-to-see 'bobble' in the vinyl between tracks 3 and 4 on Side1 which clicks for about 3 revolutions only. Otherwise, there are NO scratches or pops or clicks, NO surface noise (other than a few seconds of static in the run-in grooves) and NO distortion from wear. The sound is fantastic! Both sides play beautifully ALL the way through. The occasional quiet passages are just that - quiet! And the loud stuff is full and powerful and clear. It sounds simply superb!

This earliest pressing is RARE, even more so in NEAR MINT condition. To me, this is a final upgrade as it looks and sounds like new and I cannot imagine listening to a better copy.

Labels:

The EARLIEST 1st print Track labels on both sides are in NEAR MINT clean condition with only some very light spindle marks on each. This record hasn't been played much at all.

Sleeve:

This is the EARLIEST POSSIBLE 1st print original flip-back laminated Ernest J. Day gatefold sleeve. It is in genuinely EXCELLENT PLUS condition for its age. Unusually, there is very little laminate shrinkage. Bost surfaces are lovely and smooth with NO creases, the laminate retains most of its glossy sheen with little rubbing, and there are almost NO signs of ring wear from the record inside (like I say, it has been in storage for ages). There are NO corner dents, and the outer spine looks fine with NO wear or dings or creases. I think this sleeve looks fantastic given that it is nearly 45 years old, easily EXCELLENT PLUS!

Inner sleeve:

This is the EARLIEST POSSIBLE original poly-lined inner sleeve in EXCELLENT condition for its age. It is crisp and clean, with some yellowing from age, especially where the glue is top and bottom. The seems are near perfect. 'MADE IN ENGLAND 117' is printed bottom left indicating the sleeve was made in November 1967 the month before the album was released (see photo).

Insert:

I no longer have the insert/lyric sheet for this album.

Final verdict:

A genuinely superb EARLIEST POSSIBLE 1st press and 1st sleeve RARE top copy.

If you are interested, I am also selling two other great Jimi Hendrix albums - a * MINT AUDIO * 1st press and 1st sleeve EARLIEST POSSIBLE original copy of Electric Ladyland, and a * MINT AUDIO * 1st press and 1st sleeve original copy of Cry Of Love, also on Track. Please see my 'Other Items'.
