Jimi Hendrix
Axis Bold as Love
Track 1967
A well preserved copy of the very first Mono pressing from 1967 on the Track Record label with A1 B1 matrix codes in laminated Ernest J Day gatefold sleeve with internal flipbacks. The lyric insert is missing from this copy.
Vinyl: Well preserved labels with spindle marks showing moderate use. The playing surface is for the most part clean and retaining the original sheen. There is some light clicking for a short time on the EXP intro to Side 1 and there are 5 pops during 'Wait Until Tomorrow' (Side 1; Track 4). Aside from this, the rest of the side plays beautifully - it sounds fantastic! There is a little static on the run-in to Side 2 but the music starts with great clarity, continuing as such throughout the track. The 'Castles Made of Sand' (Side 2; Track 2) quiet intro and outro has some light background noise audible, but again, this does not affect the rest of the track. There is a pressing fault on track 3 (She's So Fine) which manifests itself as a small bump on the surface. This is only audible with great concentration (a very quiet, low 'thunk' rather than a click, which lasts for about 8 revolutions. The rest of the side plays great. Overall a solid Very Good+
Sleeve: Very Good+. Superb example with minimal evidence of handling/storage - see photos.
Inner/inserts: Plain white inner as issued. The lyric insert is not present.
