JIMI HENDRIX - BROADCASTS / MAUI - TMOQ

This LP was actually a re-release of two previous bootlegs: Maui (TMOQ 71018) and Broadcasts aka Goodbye Jimi (TMOQ 71019 / WCF 723.) The audio quality is all over the place since the recordings are from a variety of sources.


On the original Trade Mark Of Quality (TMOQ) farm pig label with a paper insert. Pressed on blue and green vinyl, no labels on the discs.


Maui is the better of the two, recorded on Magical Garden Island, Hawaii on July 30, 1970.  Broadcasts is partially from a show in Worcester, MA 1968, some cuts from the Lulu and Top Gear Shows and BBC Saturday Club 1967. Jimi was absolutely ahead of his time.  You can also hear how much more fluid and improvisational his playing got from the early days on British radio to the concert three years later.

Rating: A minus. The Maui disc really is a treasure, Broadcasts less so. Colored vinyl always adds to the collectability.
