Description

Original UK black Track label stereo 1st press LP.

The album was recorded on New Years Day 1970 after Jimi's appearance at Woodstock with an interim group that included Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and others. After Mitch returned to the UK, Hendrix began developing new songs and recording demos at the Record Plant NYC. When Buddy Miles became involved, he and Cox agreed to record a live album with Hendrix to be used to settle a contract dispute with a former manager. The new material, influenced by Cox's and Miles's musical approaches, signaled a new soulful direction for Hendrix.
This is the later 1970 UK first press after the Puppet Cover was withdrawn on Jimi's insistance and replaced with a picture taken at the Isle of Wight Festival in August. With the 'Band Of Gipsies' label text error and the earliest A/1 B=1 matrices and 1-2-5 1-1-10 stampers.
The matt sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear, a couple of small creases and some very light storage rubbing on the outer and on the inner cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain inner is intact & in EX condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with a couple of faint & wispy sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle scuffs visible on each side that do not affect play. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of only a couple of faint spindle markings.   The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very low background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great, loud & clear listen.

The matrix nos. are; 2406002, A//1 mother stamper 1-2-5, B=1 mother stamper 1-1-10.
This is one of the later copies of the original 1970 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
