1st UK issue. Single jacket with original plain white paper inner sleeve with "British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 Made In England 4913 000 15801 311" on bottom, which may slightly vary from copy to copy.

A very early press I believe
The sleeve has a little creasing , but wear is minimal. A really nice example, lovely spine still readable
Poly lined inner is creased on corners from use, intact, and has all the correct identifiers of a very first release: "British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 Made In England 4913 000 15801 311" - see photos.
The labels have very light scratches dead centre from past use, and there are 2 noticeable scratches on side one, track one. Other than that it look really good all round. The 2 marks on side look worse than their impact, just a background crackle and a few light ticks noticeable . The rest of the LP plays fantastic, hardly any background , occasional light crackle.
Details of the "Puppet" Cover Controversy:
- The Imagery: The cover, designed by Track Records , featured puppets of Hendrix, Brian Jones (who died just before the release), Bob Dylan, and BBC DJ John Peel against a drab backdrop.
- Reason for Withdrawal: The cover was widely disliked and considered tasteless. John Peel specifically complained about his inclusion, and the puppets were seen as an unrepresentative, odd choice to promote the new band.
- Back Cover Issues: The back cover showed a puppet of Hendrix playing as a right-handed guitarist, which was inaccurate.
- Replacement: Due to the backlash, the cover was replaced with a live photo of Hendrix at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival.
- Rare Collectible: Original, withdrawn copies of the "puppet" sleeve (particularly the UK first pressing) are now highly sought-after rare collector's items.
