Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys - Brazil First Issue - Puppet Cover

Selling-up my extensive record collection. Lots of interesting records in the collection - do have a look at my other items, and there are new listings every week. I may have obscure things that you didn't even know you wanted!

Being a keen Jimi Hendrix fan, I always wanted a "puppet cover" copy of Band of Gypsys, but never found an affordable one - until quite recently, when I was just starting on selling-up my collection! This one is from Brazil - they exist for several foreign markets - Australia is another - and foreign ones are cheaper than UK Track copies.  Cover is nice, record nothing special but listenable.

Cover - looks good, as per my photos of it. I don't think it's laminated, but it is very shiny, thin card. Cover is formed to the shape of the record, with light ring-wear, just taking the shine off, but not wearing-off the ink of the design. There is a SHORT tear on the spine - 1 cm long - about two-thirds of the way down the spine. There is a bump and an old bend at the bottom of the opening, and the beginning of a bend at bottom left of the front. Anyway, if you like it in my photo, you'll be pleased with it.

Record - visual examination first, then a play-test. 

One of the two labels has lost some of its orange colour. Looking at side one (closely), I saw , on track 1, a surface mark (like a fingerprint, but won't clean off). There's also a tiny scratch. On track 2 (Machine Gun), a couple of short light scratches, and a very short scratch along the grooves. On side two, an amount of damage on track one - two scratches at different points at start of the track, and on the track another short scratch and some marks - flat impacts. Also a ring of scoring. Track 2 has two more of those flat impact marks. On track 3, a short streaky mark along the grooves. There's a small area of tiny light marks / impacts on tracks 3 and 4. 

Play-test - side two first - track 1 (Them Changes) has some loud crackles, some medium ones, and some quiet ones, getting quieter as track progresses. Short guitar solos near the start sound fine. This track used to skip a groove, but I seem to have sorted that out. Rest of the side is not bad, has quiet crackles in some quiet parts, and some louder ones right at the end. Side one - Crackles in quiet start, rest of the track has parts that sound fine, and some parts with crackling, which is not loud but is noticeable. On Machine Gun, crackles during spoken intro and quiet guitar start. After that, spells with no crackling, and some spells that do have light crackles. General audio is good, the music sounds as it should. Note that the testing is on my posh hi-fi, you may not hear all the crackles that I hear.

When I'm checking for damage on records, I look at them carefully with my reading glasses on, in good daylight. This method detects any bits of damage that will affect what you hear when listening to it - and lots that are not audible. Using a spotlight or direct sunlight shows more surfacey marks sometimes, but I don't do that - records are for listening to, not trying to see your face in.

Postage at cost within UK - £3.00 plus 50p for a proper record mailer with two stiffener sheets of cardboard. Happy to do combined postage wherever practical. I'll charge you what it costs me - so anything up to six (or so) LPs would still be the same charge, £3.50.

Dispatch will usually be "next day".

Collection in person is welcome.

I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK - ( I mean it, don't ask) - but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad. Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer.

They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer.

This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices. 

E-Bay UK tells me, they do NOT do combined postage in the Global Shipping Programme. Charges to the customer for delivery and customs charges are whatever you're told they are - if you don't want to pay the postal / courier charges individually for the items, then do not bid. 

Overseas customers - please DON'T request an invoice - there is no combined postage, I can't make one, and it screws-up the e-bay system.

International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, you may have to input your location, if your country is included in the scheme.

If your country is not mentioned, please do not bid.

Applicable customs charges will probably be shown to buyers in non-EU countries - E-Bay collects customs duty for the receiving country, wherever import duty is appropriate. If you don't want to pay the customs charges, do not bid.
