Record insight: While "Electric Ladyland" is best known as a double album, Track Records, Hendrix's label in the UK released it as two single albums with unique covers. There are two stories to why, although the truth is probably a bit of both. The first reason was to make it more affordable - you didn’t have to fork out for a double album - this was also why Cream Wheels of Fire was made into single copies. The second was partly to do with the controversial nude cover.
Although there still remains the question with regards to why the track listing runs differently from the double album!
Sleeve: Fully laminated sleeve, light scuffing on opening edge primarily due to age related handling, couple of small creases on fully proud spine, small number written in biro on inside cover. No rips or tears - see photos graded VG+ or better
Comes with an original generic sleeve but will be packed in a new polylined inner sleeve
Labels: A few small spindle lines only - see photos, no writing, graded VG+
Vinyl: Retains its original sheen - light play only; light wispy lines, couple of light in audible scuffs/marks on S2 which don’t interfere with play at all, graded VG+
Audio: Plays through clean. No pips, pops or crackle, very (very) light crackle on run in only, nothing that interferes with listening - graded VG+ or better
I have tried to be honest and transparent in my description - the photographs form part of the description. Questions are welcome, don't hesitate to ask. I have good feedback (and positive comments) as both a buyer and seller, so you can buy with confidence. I am a long time collector, the few records I sell are either the results of upgrades, duplicates or a bit of thinning every now and again. If anything is not as expected, please contact me straight away, and I will do everything to resolve any problems without argument.
I strictly adhere to the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide using one + or - for addition guidance:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
