Description

Jimi Hendrix - Incident At Rainbow Bridge

This is a limited edition that came out in the 1970s, pressed on colored vinyl; the recordings are taken from his concert on the slopes of the Haleakala volcano which make up 75% of the island of Maui, Hawaii, July 30, 1970.

Rainbow Bridge was a free unprompted Jimi Hendrix concert in a horse pasture, 3000 feet up the slope of Mt. Haleakala on the island of Maui in Hawaii. A modest audience of a few hundred island hippies, surfers, and students showed up because it was rumored that Hendrix might play a free concert for a movie that Chuck Wien was directing. It was also rumored that flying saucers were predicted to arrive and hover over the concert to meet Jimi. The saucers failed to show.

This show on Maui was the last recorded Hendrix concert in the U.S. Some people mistakenly claim that this was the last live show Hendrix did in the U.S.; Hendrix actually did one more show in Honolulu, August 1, 1970, before his death on September 18, 1970 in London, England.
