It's finally time for me to part with my vinyl Hendrix collection - I have built this up over a number of years but don't listen to it as much as I should do and as I want to add to other parts of my collection it is best I shift some stuff to enable me to do this in these times of austerity! Check my other Hendrix listings as I have 3 of late 90's Experience Hendrix 180 gram triple LPs, a nice copy of Band of Gypsys with "puppet" cover as well as nice copy of the holy grail - Axis: Bold As Love Track original with insert!
This is an Excellent copy of the Jimi Hendrix MCA Experience Hendrix 3LP Live at The Fillmore East (Band of Gypsys). I have owned this from new (purchased 1999) and it has only been played a few times. I have stored the cover and vinyls in separate poly sleeves - the reason for this is that with a triple gatefold cover and 3 slabs of 180 gram vinyl it is impossible to fit in one. The sleeve has a few minor signs of wear on corners and edges, the vinyl is virtually mint both visually and audibly and these remastered recordings sound stunning, the 12" booklet is as good as mint with no creases, folds or tears. The first record has a mis-pressed label as both sides feature the B-side label. Note this version has 11 more tracks than the original Band of Gypsys album, and one of note is a full-blooded 12:56 version of Stone Free that opens the album - I personally think this is the seminal Hendrix live recording it is a great track and Jimi's vocal performance is perhaps his best, I particularly like the point towards the end when he sings "I gotta be free" - given the background of how this concert and album came to be you have to believe that was some real feeling put into the performance of that track if not the entire album. Although Hendrix recordings have been regurgitated ad-infinitum since his passing I genuine believe that the expansive live recordings that were reissued by the family at the end of the 90's are certainly albums worth having in your collection if you are a serious Hendrix collector as most tracks do not feature on any other albums and even if they do they are not of the quality that they are on these albums.
