Jimi Hendrix - Signed "Electric Ladyland" cover
If you have already looked at some of my other listings, you will realise by now that I am letting go of items that should really belong in Sothebys or the like - and this is no exception. However, I am a genuine collector and I just hope that these things go to other Hendrix fans, who will enjoy them for what they are rather than try to sell them for a profit.
Put simply, this is the crowning jewel of my collection. I got it after months of negotiation with a great guy I met in New York in 1992, who owned a well known store opposite Electric Lady studios. He had tons of great Jimi stuff and he got this directly from a woman who spent hours waiting outside of the San Diego Hilton hotel on the 24th May 1969. Jimi has signed his name across the middle of his chest on the cover photo, which is part of the USA Electric Ladyland release. There is only this part of the cover, the remainder being discarded after the signature was obtained. The writing is very clear and although it's not the biggest autograph he ever wrote it's in very good condition and I have no doubt as to it's authenticity, none at all.
I don't need to bore anybody about eBay fakes but this isn't the case here. I have thought very long and hard about the starting price. I don't want to put people off but I don't want to give it away, either. All in all, I am sure that this will make somebody very happy and with a view to generating interest I have kept the opening bid low and (here's where I get worried!) I have not put a Reserve on the item.
