Description
Up for auction today I have a rare promotional poster printed in 1970 and featuring Jimi Hendrix. This is an original vintage promotional poster, not a reproduction or reprint.
The poster advertises the October 1970 edition of a now-defunct German music magazine named Sounds, this particular issue being published the month following Jimi's untimely death in London. These posters would most likely have been displayed in music shops for just the couple of weeks prior to the forthcoming months' publication of the magazine. The vast majority would then have been thrown away once the poster promoting the next month's issue arrived.
The condition of the poster is excellent. The colours are fresh and there is very little sign of ageing on the front. There are some faint creases from storage, which although they appear to be quite prominent on the rear of the poster (see pictures) are barely noticeable on the front. When flattened beneath a frame the poster appears almost mint condition. This really is a nice piece.
The poster measures 16 and a half inches by 23 inches.
In over 20 years of interest in music memorabillia I've never seen another example of this poster, so it's probably safe to say it's an incredibly rare piece. And being created soley to advertise a German music magazine, I doubt it was printed in any particularly large quantity to begin with.

The poster will be safely packaged in a solid cardboard tube, not sent folded.
The listed postal cost is for regular Air Mail delivery, not a signed-for, recorded or tracked service. If you require the poster to be sent by one of these methods (which will insure the item in the event of loss or damage etc), please let me know before making payment so I can alter the final cost accordingly. The charge varies from country to country.
