This posthumus Jimi Hendrix album was originally released in March 1971 and features various tracks recorded between March 1968 & August 1970. After his death in 1970, the numerous demos and live recordings he left behind were acquired by his record company Reprise/Polydor. During 1970 Jimi Hendrix was working on a new album of material with Mitch Mitchell & Billy Cox at his new Electric Lady Studios in New York. About half the songs were completed and the rest in various takes, so his engineer Billie Kramer, Mitch Mitchell & manager Michael Jeffrey decided to mix, overdub and complete the album. The result was a success reaching no. 2 in the UK, but without Jimi it is still unclear how this final album might have been. The Hendrix estate finally got a chance to issue their version in 1997 as a double album, 'First Rays of The New Rising Sun', but as Jimi left several possible track listings, what he would have decided to do will remain lost.
This is the original issue with first label variation with the track listings over three lines, the earliest A//1 B//1 matrices and 1-1-13 1-1-13 stampers of the first presses.
Overall, just a really great, loud & lively listen. The matrix nos. are; 2408101, A//1-420 stamper 1-1-13, B//1-420 stamper 1-1-13. This is one of the early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1971 UK stereo issue of this album!

All Airmail is limited to 5 or 6 lp's due to 2kg weight restrictions.
