1123. VINTAGE 78 RPM RECORD ~ VICTOR 22554 WITH VINTAGE VICTOR PAPER SLEEVE

**SELLER'S NOTE:  According to the Victor files, this disc was recorded in Hollywood, CA. in 1930 ("Pistol" on July 1 and "Blues" on July 5), was released in Jan. of 1931, was later deleted from the Victor catalog in 1936, and Lani McIntire is listed as guitarist on the "Gambler's Blues" side.

GRADE:  visually is Excellent (E), audibly is Very Good (V)

CONDITION NOTES:  Record labels are crisp and bright with a few very light scuffs and light smudges.  Record surfaces are very glossy with a few light visible scuffs and a few light "zig zag" scratches (do not affect play).  This item plays with excellent fidelity, lots of volume, and some surface noise that does not overpower the vocals.

The paper sleeve has small creases, folds, small tear around center opening, a small tear on the top (open) edge, and has browned due to age.

***No worries about packing…I pack for shipment like the pros - record secured between cardboard squares in large box with plenty of padding.

 GRADING IS CONSERVATIVE USING THE VJM RECORD GRADING SYSTEM:

N (78). As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).

N- (78). Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.

E+ (78). Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.

E  (78). Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.

E- (78). Still shiny but without the luster of a new record, a few light scratches and scuffs.

V+ (78).  An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.

V (78). Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

V- (78). Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy graying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.

G+ (78). Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.

G (78). Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
