Description
For sale is Jimmy Dean's Big Bad John and Other Fabulous Songs and Tales, originally released in 1961 by Columbia Records. This record has the original red and black labels with six CBS logos midway up the label, three on the left, three on the right. Since these logos look like eyes, collectors call them "6-Eye" Columbia records. These labels were used only between 1955-62. In the dead wax between these labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 2-A/1-F, indicating that an early stamper was used to make this first edition. These hallmarks signify state-of-the-art engineering with a very rare label sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound qualities. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. The inner sleeve is graded as Excellent with some wrinkles. The cover is graded as VG+ because of ring wear, corner blunts and a stress crack along the spine. The spine has some color loss at the corners. The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent because of some faint hairline sleeve marks. I'm play grading it between Excellent and Near Mint because of some occasional low level surface noise. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life yet. This record has incredible dynamics and the imaging is tight and focused. This is by far the best copy of this hard to find album that I have ever seen or heard. You would be hard pressed to find one in this condition ever again! This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I have a lot more Country records as well as albums of all different genres listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
