Description
- This is a unique opportunity - I've never seen this album for sale before.
- Released in 1963 in the States as "One Of Mine" (the liner notes refer to it by this title), this is the UK release on Sue (Island Records) ILP-908 called "Gospel Time".
- I bought this brand new on February 23rd 1965 for £1 9s 11d at Imhofs record store in New Oxford St. as can be seen from the original sales voucher (included in auction). I was really disappointed at the time that they didn't have Jimmy's first album "I've Got A Woman" in stock until I heard this! It has to be one of my all time favourites.
- The record has a few scratches so that it skips in 4 places (at 7, 20, 23 & 44 minutes into the album), there are 3 clicks at 13 minutes and slight background crackle at 9 & 15 minutes. Otherwise the sound is excellent. Listening through it for these flaws still made my hair bristle! It is truly brilliant.
- Visibly it is extremely clean and unmarked.
- The sleeve is in excellent condition considering it's not laminated. No tears or marks except some unfortunate selotape stains.
- I never thought I'd ever part with this treasure but I'm emigrating so it's got to go.
