“Rock the Joint” is widely considered one of the first songs to bridge jump blues with early rock & roll. This original Gotham release predates the Bill Haley version and stands as a landmark recording in pre-rock history. Preston’s tenor sax-driven sound, combined with rapid-fire vocals, helped define the genre’s transition into the 1950s.
