Description

JIMMY SMITH - GROOVIN' AT SMALL PARADISE VOLUME 1
BLUE NOTE ?– BLP 1585 Vinyl  LP, Album, Mono  US RELEASED MARCH 1958
FIRST PRESS VAN GELDER - VRG IN RUN OFF - (P-EAR)-PLASTILITE ORIGINAL ADDRESS 47 West 63rd all stamped in run off

BEST SOUND FROM ORIGINAL STAMPERS
The collector will hear variation in the audio quality of Blue Note recordings, from one decade to the next, from Van Gelder’s loud and dazzling “musicians in the room” presence and room-filling mono, as found on many original Lexington and 47 West 63rd editions. This record is superb, a fine example of original 47 West 63rd editions 1958 pressings
THE VINYL IS VG++, UNDER BRIGHT LIGHTS IT SHOWS A FEW THIN HAIRLINES THAT DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE MUSIC - VERY SHINY HEAVY VINYL, PERFECT LABELS THIS IS A VERY NICE RECORD. ON PLAYING THE SOUND IS CLEAR, VIBRANT AND QUIET WITH ONLY A TRACE OF USUAL SURFACE NOISE BUT NOTHING TO HAMPER THE ENJOYMENT OF A SUPERB RECORD

  •
  •

PLAYS EXCELLENT WITH FULL DYNAMICS AND CLEAN CLEAR SOUND - SOUND IS VERY DYNAMIC WITH FULL BASS AND HIGHS - ON QUIET PASSAGES THE SOUND IS A DELIGHT - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - A VERY NICE MASTERING! - RECOMMENDED ANALOGUE MASTERPIECE

THE  JACKET IS EXCELLENT MINUS -  FRONT LAMINATEDTHERE IS NO RING WEAR AND NO REAL AGE WEAR -   VERY LIGHT BUMPING TO CORNERS (SEE PHOTO) - NO NAME WRITING AND NO SPLITS  - ONLY DAMAGE IS SOME STAINING TO THE BACK TOP HALF BY OPENING (SEE PHOTO)

LABELS ARE SUPER BRIGHT AND SHINY WITH VERY LIGHT SPINDLE MARKS!!

PLEASE SEE PHOTOS

FINALLY ONE LAST WORD RE HAIRLINES, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY NON-SEALED RECORD WITHOUT THEM, MANY HAD THEM FROM NEW. MOSTLY THEY ARE A RESULT OF STORAGE AND USE AND USUALLY HAVE LITTLE IMPACT ON THE SOUND QUALITY. THE SAME GOES FOR BACKGROUND NOISE, UNFORTUNATELY, ALL RECORDS WILL HAVE SOME AND THIS VARIES AND REFLECTS THE PRESSING QUALITY.

Most records have production marks where someone touched or moved the vinyl while it was still semi-soft.  These marks look like smudges, but are not scratches or "paper scuffs" and do not usually sound.  Untouched vinyl from newly-opened records have these marks.

 RECOMMENDED!

FULLY GUARANTEED!

IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded.

Records are graded under bright lights or discrete sunlight - In the case of visibly possible harmful scratches, the record will be tested and sound quality noted. Many vintage (1955-70) records will play fine with visible damage due to superior vinyl and better pressings.

How I Grade Condition Of Discs

Mint

This means I have owned it from new or purchased from a distributors warehouse, basically it means absolutely new shape, never been played or out of its dust cover. In the case of LP's, a North American album will have to be factory sealed (anyone can reseal an album!) Take Note: European and Japaneses albums were never shrink wrapped!

Note: Being mint does not guarantee it's free of pops and clicks, many pressings especially from the US were made with very poor vinyl and in a hurry which means often there are imperfections in the pressing. As a former importer, we were often given back brand new albums due to clicks heard in the playback.

Mint Minus - No such thing, it's either mint or not.

Excellent - A disc is super clean, with no visible marks

Excellent Plus, means it's probably mint but can't be proven by me.

Excellent minus, is a disc that is excellent except it may have some markings that do not show up in the playing

VG - A disc that is STILL in good shape, WILL have some scuffs or scratches, not in excellent shape but well worth owning. VG + and ++,a disc that is that much better than VG.

VG minus, just a smidgen below VG
