Jimmy Smith ' The sermon ' BLUE NOTE BST 4011 (USA) stereo NY label with deep groove on side 1 only - back cover has on bottom the address 43W 61st New York 23 - rec. and issued in 1959 - this is the 1962 stereo issue - on trail-off (dead wax) has stamped 'RVG stereo' and has the ear Jimmy Smith : organ - Lee Morgan : trumpet - George Coleman, Lou Donaldson : alto sax - Tina Brooks : tenor sax - Kenny Burrell, Eddie McFadden : guitar - Donald Bailey, Art Blakey : drums Side 1 : The sermon (J.Smith) Side 2 : Flamingo (Grouya-Anderson) - J.O.S. (J.Smith) Visual grading : record is VG+ to EX- full lustre has light wear and few light unfeelable surface marks barely visible. Also few wispy lines. Clean labels with very light spindle wear Playing grading : record is VG+ to EX- plays very well with loud and clear sound. Has light background noise on first track of side 2. Has also few light occasional ticks Cover grading : cover is VG- to VG has wear to corners, edges and a bit more evident to spine which has a repaired split on top. Also top left corner on front has been lightly retouched.
