Description

RARE monaural vinyl LP from 1955:  "Invitation To The Mambo" by the Joe Loco Quintet.  Joe Loco (born Jose Estevez in NYC in 1921 to Puerto Rican parents) popularized the mambo and cha-cha Latin dance rhythms in the USA during the 1940s and '50s.  Joe played the Copa in the late 1940s - early 1950s, along with other Latin greats including Tito Puente, Pupi Campo, Machito, and Tito Rodriguez. 

Joe cut three albums during the 1950s for Fantasy, all on red vinyl.  This is the hardest one to find.  Complete with superb sexy cover art by Betty Brader.

Fantasy Records catalog #3215.  Released 1955.  This is a monaural vinyl LP, not a CD!

We spot test-play all used LPs on a high-end Technics turntable equipped with a Shure M95HE cartridge, tracking at 1.5 grams.

LP grading:  Excellent.  No scratches, no scuffs.  Some subtle crackly surface noise, confined mostly to the first couple dozen revolutions of both sides.  Otherwise the surfaces are quiet, unusually good for non-black vinyl. 

 Sleeve grading:  Excellent.  No splits, no corner bumps.  Tiny scuff just to the left of the redhead's eyes.  Very minor ring wear.  Cover is strong and very clean.  Original Fantasy inner promo sleeve included.  The disk is packed in a new, clean inner sleeve. 

The sleeve and disk will be shipped with a clear plastic over-sleeve to protect the cover art, and packed in a 13" x 13" x 2" heavywall box.
