Description

The music of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joe Walsh has been truly steadfast over time from his days with The James Gang to The Eagles and his extensive solo recording years interspersed before and after.


Here is a REALLY GREAT LP from Joe Walsh in this auction:


  • “THE SMOKER YOU DRINK, THE PLAYER YOU GET” LP by Joe Walsh

  • This is ABC Command CQD-40016.

  • It is a QUADRAPHONIC PRESSING!

  • The title is a play on words "The higher you get, the better you play!"

  • This LP title was originally released June 18, 1973.

  • This QUADRAPHONIC PRESSING was released in 1974.

  • After much success with the James Gang, Walsh decided to leave that rock trio in late 1971. He relocated to Colorado, where he formed the band Barnstorm.

  • This was the second of two albums featuring Joe Walsh with his backup group Barnstorm. It’s been said that it’s really a Barnstorm LP but credited to Joe Walsh.

  • “The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get” features some of the most remembered Joe Walsh tracks.

  • It has 9 GREAT TUNES on it including: “Rocky Mountain Way”, “Meadows”, “Bookends”, “Dreams”, “Days Gone By” and “Wolf”. The LP is strong from start to finish.

  • This 1973 LP came in between his stints with The James Gang and The Eagles, and “The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get” became Joe Walsh’s most successful solo production.

  • The LP was really a commercial breakthrough for Walsh and the band by reaching the Top 10 in the U.S.

  • The GATE-FOLD COVER & the VINYL are in NEAR MINT (NM) CONDITION.
