Original pre-war Columbia blues 78 featuring Joe Williams performing the enduring blues classic “Baby, Please Don’t Go” backed with the haunting “Wild Cow Moan.” Long before the song became a standard for Muddy Waters, Van Morrison, and countless others, Joe Williams delivered this powerful early recording that remains a cornerstone of American blues history.
This original Columbia 37945 retains an attractive shine with no visible cracks or edge chips. Light to moderate scuffs and scratches are present from nearly ninety years of handling, consistent with a well-preserved vintage shellac record. The labels remain bold and clean with only moderate spindle wear. There are pencil markings in the dead wax that do not affect play. Please examine the photos carefully as they form part of the description.
Also included is the original Columbia “New Process Record” company sleeve. The sleeve shows heavy wear, tears, and missing paper but is an authentic period companion to the record.
