Johann Strauss Memories of Vienna Krips UK Decca SXL 2047
Original 1958 Decca FFSS Stereo Recording RARE
On “Memories of Vienna”, the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Josef Krips performs Johann Strauss’, the “Blue Danube”, “Acceleration Waltz”, “Emperor Waltz”, “Roses from the North”, and “Pizzicato Polka” (the later by Johann and Josef Strauss). An English stereo pressing on the Decca Label (SXL 2047 stampers 2E/1K with a small “1” in the run off groove), the labels are black with silver lettering, Full Frequency Stereo Sound fatband and logo and Original recordings by… at 10 o’clock. The record is of excellent appearance, and plays and sounds superb with a little crackle at the start, but otherwise only occasional surface noise – a stunning recording. The cover laminate has rubbed with a ring and is in very good condition. The rear has a blue FFSS border and the foldovers have cutouts, and the original ffss inner bag is excellent.
