For sale is a promo vinyl pressing of Dvorak Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in A minor op.53 by Johanna Martzy.

This is a highly sought after, promo (Not For Sale) first pressing showcases Johanna Martzy, Ferenc Fricsay, playing with Rias Symphony Orchestra Berlin.

This recording begins with Dvorak Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in A minor op.53 followed by violin encores - 3rd Movement: Finale and Berceuse (Sur Le Nom De Gabriel Faure) by Ravel and with the finale, Milhaud's Ipanema.

With Johanna Martzy playing violin, Jean Antonietti playing amazing Piano and Ferenc Fricsay conducting there's no other recording quite as superb!

This vinyl has the Decca Pink Label Promo LP with Not For Sale/ Sample Copy printed on it (Decca, DL 9858).

Disc is heavy in weight, similar to shelac 78s, and may in fact be made of shelac.

Graded at VG+, conservatively so as to not upset serious collectors. Please take note that there are a handful of mostly superficial surface marks, light scratches as it were.

Side one plays quietly for the most part although there are moments of light crackle a few minutes into play with occasional audible pops, some noticeable but not many. There are brief moments of rotational pops along the way, but they subside towards the middle as does much of the surface noise described previously.

Side two plays with about the same amount of on and off, faint to moderate pops, some rotational clicks for very brief periods, nothing too distracting but worth noting. 

This is a quiet record as it is, and since I played it at an unusually high volume I may be overemphasizing some of the surface noise. Still though I would call it a quiet record with amazing playback for its age!

Jacket is VG+ with light creasing and bunching where the glue apparantly didn't bond to the cardboard. While at first glance the "bunching" appears to be water damage a closer inspection suggests otherwise (see close up pictures for details). Otherwise there's not a lot of wear, light storage rings appear on the front but not so much on the back. The edges are still very much intact!!
