British 1st release original film soundtrack to Eddie Murphy comedy ‘The Golden Child’ (1986, dir. Michael Ritchie), composed and conducted by John Barry and Michel Colombier. It also features various artists.
The movie starred Eddie Murphy, Charlotte Lewis and Charles Dance.

VINYL: EX. Clean on visual inspection. Played just pre-listing and sounds superb. Owned since bought new. Plays with no skipping, jumping or sticking. A decent listening experience.
OUTER SLEEVE/COVER: VG. Colours are unfaded, glossy and clean. Stored responsibly. Very minimal corner/edge nicks, creases and aperture wear. Top edge has a central 4cm split/tear. Short creases near edges. Rear cover looks clean and undamaged. Cover is intact.
INNER SLEEVE: VG+. Original. White paper. Slightly yellowed and stained. Clean and intact.

Review:
This soundtrack album was released by Capitol Records in conjunction with the film, which was a huge success.

The album features the Ann Wilson song as well the Ashford & Simpson's along with one of Barry's memorable tracks from his original score which stayed in the film "Wisdom Of The Ages" as well as three tracks of Colombier's score.

The album went out-of-print and then became a highly sought after collectable during the 90's and mainly for John Barry's music.

With the film in its post-production stage, Alan Silvestri was heavily discussed as coming on board the film and a big coup was scored for the production when Academy Award winner John Barry was signed to score the film in August.

Barry had just scored the memorable music for Out of Africa and the disastrous 1986 film Howard The Duck, and seemed like the perfect choice for the film. His score which emphasized the dangers, romance and adventure of the story is one of Hollywood's most talked about scores. Barry had scored a lengthier version of the film and when it tested poorly in those dreaded test screenings, two things happened.

One, the film was cut down by half an hour from its original length and, two, Barry's marvellous score did not work well with the audience as they felt didn't push the story along as it should've.

Barry was asked by the studio to re-score the picture and he politely declined, moving onto other projects.

That’s when French composer Michel Colombier came on board.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
