Description

Green cover series LP 1131, ‘The Trendsetters’. Original UK library LP, 1973. Cover: vg- (radio station stamp and discolouration/staining on back – see scan). Vinyl: excellent (light surface marks, plays well). Composers include John Cameron, Keith Mansfield & James Clarke.

Side one (all compositions by John Cameron) features several tracks that are reminiscent of Cameron’s ‘Afro Rock’ LP, recorded in the same year, on this rare UK library label. Check the tough grooves & funk of ‘Heavy Traffic’, for example. The real winner for me, though, is James Clarke’s up-tempo, bongo-driven club-funk bomb, ‘Second Cut’.
