I collect and occasionally sell the odd record.  I've seen and bought records people have graded as Near Mint, and in my opinion don't even grade out as a VG++.  
Of course grading is subjective; if I'm going to sell a record, I'll err on the side of being conservative.
Up for auction is this very nice John Coltrane record; A Love Supreme.  It doesn't get much better than this.  From 1964 Impulse!  Great Shiny Album cover with no signs of ring wear whatsoever.  Awesome spine as well.  You'll be happy with this one.
