John Coltrane  "Ascension"

This is an original US vinyl pressing on Impulse A-95  from 1965.     This is the stereo pressing.    The band is John Coltrane,
Freddie Hubbard, Art Davis, McCoy Tyner, Marion Brown, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, John Tchicai, Dewey Johnson, and Jimmy Garrison.  ( all famous in their own right )    It was produced by Bob Thiele on June 28th, 1965.   

A quote from the liner notes : ' It starts at a high level of intensity with horns playing high and the other pieces playing low.  It builds in intensity through all the solo passages, brass and reeds, until it gets to the final section where the rhythm section takes over and brings it back down to the level it started at."    Liner note written by A. B. Spellman. 

Martix numbers : side one : AS-95-A  VANGELDER.    side two : AS-95-B   VANGELDER.     It does not have 'edition 2' in the dead wax area.     The gatefold cover is glossy.

Overall Condition is : Cover is VG+ /  Record is VG+

The gatefold cover is VG+ with no ring wear, no writing , and no seam splits.   There is light overall cover wear.    The vinyl looks VG+ and it plays VG+, with light some light paper marks.    The labels are clean with no spindle marks.  The record comes in an Impulse inner sleeve. 

The songs are : Ascension (Part 1 ) and Ascension (Part 2 ).

I started collecting records in 1966.     I started selling in Goldmine in 1985.      I now sell records at all Northwest record conventions : Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene, Grants Pass, and Canby.       And at Crossroads Music in Portland, Oregon.     My records are from a no smoking and no pets home.  

Packaging :

I take great care on every package and I do each one personally.     I will package this record between two pieces of hand cut cardboard.     Each piece is 1/2 inch thick, triple strength industrial cardboard.       Together they are very strong and unbendable.   ( Even the postmen comment on how strong this cardboard is ! )       I always remove the record from the cover and seal them in a clear plastic sleeve.     The package will be marked in red : "Fragile Record" on both sides. 

Postage :  Weight : 2 pounds

You have to pay for the postage.     I pre-weigh every record, so that you pay the exact amount the post office charges.   There are no handling charges.     This record will weigh 32 ounces ( 2 pounds ) when ready to ship.   US bidders can figure out your own postage costs for US Priority or Media Mail.    All US winners will get shipping through Paypal and an automatic email with the tracking number.      Overseas bidders must use First Class Mail International.    You will get an automatic email with the customs/tracking number.      ( Buyers from Italy must assume all risks for shipping to their country. )      I will send your record as soon as you pay ( same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM : Monday thru Saturday)   I will combine shipping if you win more than one record.      Please wait for me to send you an invoice for all of your records in one package.
