John Coltrane Ballads 1st Press Mono White Label Impulse A-32
I would call it a good condition record in fair jacket. Despite some glaring condition issues to both the record and sleeve, still a decent enough play copy. Plays through without major interruptions, although some surface noise present. Sound sample available upon request.
The record has several shorter scuffs and hairlines to the A side, on my system plays without any jumps or skips, has some background noise throughout but nothing that cuts way above the tunes. Side B has some longer marks and seems to play a bit cleaner, even, although still with background sound. I have a less picky ear than a lot of people but Ive listened to this record before on cleaner copies and I enjoyed spinning this one. The surface sounds appear mostly on the first track of side one and in between tracks during the quieter parts. Mostly the fidelity is so good that, for my ears, the background sound hardly even registers when present, since it is sporadic and intermediate.
Someone has crossed out in pen what appears to have been radio station stamps on the label. Date stamp on labels as well, still present.
The sleeve is in Fair condition, with seam splits to top and bottom edge of the back gatefold, as well as some splitting in the middle fold at the spine, though not really effecting the integrity of the spine itself, being on the inside only. The spine label is pretty worn down, although the paper covering it is still present at the top and bottom half. Someone wrote J-C in colored marker on the sleeve, and someone also tried to use masking tape to hold together the seam splits, which has resulted in the yellow marks left.
This is all sold as is, which is a listenable copy of the 1st mono press of this classic Coltrane LP. Local pickup / in person viewing available in lower manhattan.
