Description
I am relisting this record because the previous auction winner thought they were bidding on a different record. I am downsizing my Jazz collection and will be selling a number of my LP's over the next couple of weeks. Up for auction is a mono repress, Blue Note (a division of Liberty Records), John Coltrane, "Blue Train" , BLP1577 produced in 1966. This is a repress done eight years after the original mono version was produced with recording, mastering and lacquers cut by Rudy Van Gelder as shown by his initials being in the dead wax. My main goal was to collect Near Mint versions of original vinyl for my jazz collection, I wanted the same for the outer and inner sleeves as well, but the main priority was to to get the best quality vinyl as possible for the best audio quality, and also to get the best versions. As far as condition goes, the outer sleeve is in Near Mint condition, There is a super small 1/8" long strip of white to the rear of the upper corner of the spine where the paper is folded over at the corner, but I am not going to degrade my rating for the cover, it's essentially perfect. Please see the pictures to see what I am describing. I don't have the original inner sleeve, a plain white paper one is included. The vinyl itself is in beautiful Near Mint condition, and the labels are Excellent, there are some minor spindle marks around the center hole, please see the pictures to see what I am describing they are hard to see, the labels are very nice. The records play with near mint quality as well, no sonic issues of any kind. It's rare to see a highly desirable example of this 59 year old record with this kind of quality. The dead wax shows the inscriptions consistent with what is called out by Discogs for the Liberty pressing, with RVG BN-LP-1577-A...9M on side 1 and RVG BN-LP-1577-B...9M on side 2 in the deadwax. These are the same dead wax markings as the original mono lp released in 1958. I will only sell to the continental United States, no international shipping. I will send via US Postal Service Media Mail. No reserve, just a very reasonable starting bid, considering how much this Near Mint mono pressing of this record typically sells for.
