Description
This is an auction for the VERY RARE John Coltrane - Blue Train - ORIGINAL BLUE NOTE BLP-1577 with 47 West 63rd NYC deep groove DG labels, 43 West 61st St., New York 23 address on back cover. Engineered by Rudy Van Gelder - 'RVG' stamp and an 'ear' in trailoff both sides. Besides Trane, includes great solos by Lee Morgan and Curtis Fuller.
Record is visually graded as Mint- with almost no spindle marks and it PLAY GRADES Mint- to VG++ with just brief background crackles in beginnings of each side and a brief spot or two elsewhere. Sound quality is superb, realistic audiophile quality - Rudy Van Gelder at his best recording the brilliant of Coltrane and band at the top of their form. Laminated cover is VG++ with slight wear at right side corner tips and a tiny spot on the lower left spine. Back cover has slight wear/foxing at the top and right.
