Description

Blue Note 1577.  Blue Train.  Mono.  Before I get into the condition specifics let me give an overall summary - Doesn't look so great but it plays really well.  I can only grade the cover as GOOD with significant seam and spine splits.  The splits have been reglued and reinforced from the inside with heavy Kraft paper.  See photos 5-8 for the splits and repair.  A visual grade of the record is VG minus with a lot of surface marks.  See photos 11-12 for surface condition.  A play grade is VG++.  It's amazing how well this plays.  I decided that the only accurate way I can let people hear this album is to record the entire album and post it with this listing.  All of Side 1 and Side 2 can be heard below.  At the very end of Side 2 (22:22) some waver/flutter can be heard.  This distortion is in my recording and not in the vinyl.  
When the surface condition of the record needs to be seen I provide at least 1 photo.  I take the photos outside on a bright sunny day.  I angle the record toward the sun for the greatest visibility.  No 1000 watt light bulb is as good as the sun in disclosing flaws.
GRADING
Near Mint or Mint Minus:  My top grade.  The record or cover will show the most minimal of wear.  The record will have top gloss.  The cover will be free from any ring wear, splits, or handwriting.
VG++ :  Not quite Near Mint but a super clean, desirable record.
VG+ :  The record or cover will show signs of wear but no significant defects.
VG  :  Obvious signs of wear but the record still has life in it.  VG does not mean beat.
VG Minus  :  The record or cover will show moderate to heavy wear.  For a common record this would not be an acceptable grade.  For an in-demand, rare record it should be considered.
Good  :  Very heavy wear.  This grade would only be acceptable if the record is rare enough that you might not see another copy available for sale or it's a rare record at a low price.
