John Coltrane ' Blue Train ' BLUE NOTE BLP 1577 (USA) mono 47W 63rd label with deep groove - back cover has the address 43W 61st - rec. on September 15, 1957 on originally issued in 1957 - this is the 1959 issue - on the trail-off (dead wax) has printed 'RVG' for Rudy Van GelderJohn Coltrane : tenor sax - Lee Morgan : trumpet - Curtis Fuller : trombone - Kenny Drew : piano - Paul Chambers : bass - Philly Joe Jones : drums Side 1 : Blue Train - Moment's notice Side 2 : Locomotion - I'm old fashioned (Kern-Mercer) - Lazy bird All compositions by John Coltrane except as indicated Visual grading : record is VG still has much lustre and has several light unfeelable lines. Also has a few more evident scratches, one of them on side 2 track 1 is lightly feelable. Clean labels with some spindle wear
Playing grading : record is VG+ on side 1 plays well with loud and clear sound. Side 2 is VG- to VG plays well but on track 1 has 90 seconds of soft repeated ticks well below the music's level. Rest of side 2 plays fine with loud and clear sound. Both sides have very light occasional background noise
Cover grading : cover is VG- has wear to corners, edges and to spine. Top and bottom right corners have been repaired due to a split. Laminated front cover is fairly nice. Back cover has rubbing and light age yellowing
