John Coltrane - Coltrane Plays The Blues (Atlantic 1382 USA Mono LP) Hard Bop

This is a very early USA Mono pressing. It has a heavyweight fully laminated sleeve. The sleeve has the "1841 Broadway New York" address for Atlantic Records printed on the rear sleeve. It comes with its original generic company paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has "red & maroon" or "plum" Atlantic labels.

These have the "black fan" logo. This, I believe, denotes this pressing as being from late 1962-1963. The records have A-11911-A and A-11912-A matrix numbers.

This is a genuine early 196o's USA Mono pressing. These are not that common. I have some other rare & collectable UK original 1960's & 1970's Folk, Jazz, Prog, Psych, Rock etc... LP's for sale. Please see my other listings.


Sleeve: There is a small 2 cm seam split on the top edge. This is at the very corner tip of the sleeve opening. There is a 3 cm area of more moderate rubbing wear at the centre of the bottom edge. This has caused a slight 3 cm seam split in that area too. There is some mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, very mild or very minor hairline rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on a few areas. This hardly really notices under a strong light. There is light fading to the rear sleeve. There is some mild fading to the spine area. Otherwise, the spine is fine. The spine text is clearly legible. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear on a few areas. Overall, a strong Very Good+ condition

Vinyl: Firstly, there is a very small 1 cm hairline mark at the very start of Side 2. It doesn't look very much. However, it does feel to the touch slightly. This causes approximately 25 intermittent mild or more moderate clicks at the start of the side. It does not jump on my system (Please see below for a more thorough playback description). There is a small & mild 2 cm surface pressing mark on Side 2. There are a couple of light hairline surface sleeve rub marks on Side 1. These measure 1.5 cm and 3 cm in length. They are quite near to each other. They are not too noticeable under a strong light.

Otherwise, there are some light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The original paper inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear only.

The company plain paper inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. Firstly, as mentioned, there is a very small 1 cm hairline mark at the very start of Side 2. This causes approximately 25 intermittent mild or more moderate clicks at the start of the side of Side 2. It does not jump on my system. Apart from this, Side 2 plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in many places. Side 1 plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are no clicks or pops on Side 1.
