John Coltrane "Coltrane Plays the Blues" 1962 Atlantic 1382 mono promo. A really hard to find white-label promo copy of a fine album, which includes McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones. Sleeve is nearly perfect on front, with only the very lightest ring scuff discernible, some small bits of dark spotting on back (see photos) and a tiny bit of damage on the bottom edge, but nonetheless an Excellent minus (EX-) sleeve. Vinyl is visually really nice and it's really hard to see/find the light scratches on Side A. The problem is you can hear them just fine on playback. A1 at the beginning and particularly A2 about half way into the song have annoying clicks. The rest of it, including almost all of Side B are playing back at an Excellent level. There's also a small divot-like imperfection on the edge of the run-in, but it's not preventing playback in any way. So taken as a whole, the clicky bits and the Excellent together, I'll rate it overall a Very Good (VG). This is a great price for a special album. Just cleaned with a VPI wet-vac system. I'll pay the shipping via USPS Media Mail.
