Description
John Coltrane Crescent 1964 Stereo 1st Press Impulse! AS-66 G+/VG-. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Media Mail.
For auction is a decent listeners copy of Crescent by the John Coltrane Quartet. This is a 1964 US stereo 1st press of the jazz classic. It features Coltrane on tenor sax, McCoy Tyner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on double bass and Elvin Jones on drums.
Vinyl is play graded G+. There are many surface marks and hairlines some deeper than others. One can be slightly felt on Side 2 in the middle of Track 2. Does not affect play. Overall, the record plays better than it looks. Background noise throughout of various degrees. Most sever during the beginning of Track 1 Side 1. At about the quarter mark of first song there is a couple of quick jumps. Record plays through and with only minor clicks and background noise the rest of the way. It is more obvious during quieter parts and between songs but never too overwhelming. A decent listeners copy or at the very least an amazing filler of a must have record for any collector. Please see pics.
Laminated gatefold cover is in VG- condition. Shelf wear on corners and seams. Tape along top seam over a split that takes up 3/4 of the edge. Bottom seam has about an inch and a half of tape from open end. There is also some patch work with more tape on the title edge and inside the gatefold along fold. Stains on inside of gatefold and back. The lamination is peeling on the back and is taped down. Title is legible. Despite all this wear, the cover is super solid looks good and protects vinyl. Please see pics.
Good luck bidding and thank you for looking!
